GoI unconcerned about Kashmir’s environment: Mirwaiz

‘MoS PMO’s statement can spark communal fire’

GoI unconcerned about Kashmir’s environment - MirwaizTerming the recent statement of MoS Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh that the Amarnath yatra can be held throughout the year as ‘communal thinking’, Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday stated that central government should change its thinking towards Kashmir.
Addressing a Friday congregation Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz said that the central government is reluctant to look after the environment of Kashmir and is forcing Kashmiris to start agitation over their communal thinking.
“Last year, Kashmiris showed their brotherhood during the Amarnath yatra and tried to help every hindu but unfortunately this time central government is trying to start communal riots between Jammu hindus and Kashmir Muslims, which is unacceptable,” Mirwaiz said.
He added that the central government should change their behaviour, thinking, attitude towards Kashmiris, adding, “We Kashmiris have guts to save our environment in every aspect.”
Taking a dig on PDP, Mirwaiz said that their coalition with BJP to form the dispensation in the state was against the aspiration of Kashmiris and unfortunately they failed to understand the consequences of the said coalition.
Mirwaiz termed the central government and national electronic media as the two faces of same coins, and said, “Both electronic media and central government are politicizing the issues and are trying to create hue and cry over the minor issues as the electronic media too is portraying the minor issues are being portrayed as anti-india and anti-hindu.”
Urging people of Kashmir to perform their duty in the way of safe guarding their environment, Mirwaiz said that they will soon launch an awareness programme in this regard, adding, “We will go to schools, colleges and will make today’s generation aware about our environment so that the environmental problem of ours would be solved. If the current situation will remain continue then unfortunately our next generation won’t be able to see the nature in Kashmir.”
