In order to ensure hassle-free movement of traffic and pedestrians in civil line areas, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Tufail Mattoo, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amit Kumar, SSP Traffic, Masood-ul-Zaman in joint operation removed street vendors from on road side / foot paths in the crowded areas of Hari Singh High Street, Naaz Crossing, Maharaj Bazar and adjoining areas.
In a statement issued here, SMC spokesperson Masrat Yosuf said this drive shall continue in other areas as well.“The encroachers in their own interest are asked to desist from laying redis (vendors) on road side and shopkeepers should not display their commodities on roads and foot paths. They are warned in this behalf otherwise goods/sale products will be confiscated and heavy penalties shall be imposed,” she warned.
