Mufti is and was Kashmir’s tormentor: NC

National Conference Wednesday lashed out at ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) for “trying to mislead people by fabricating lies and distorting history”.

Mufti is and was Kashmir's tormentor - NC“Rather than finding ways to bring deteriorating security situation in valley under control, PDP’s Education Minister Naeem Akhtar seems more interested in leveling false accusations against party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah and working president Omar Abdullah,” NC provincial spokesperson said in a statement here.

“May be Naeem Akhtar has forgotten about Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s hideous past. It was Mufti Sayeed who was the biggest tormentor and killer of the youth of Kashmir. He started repression and carnage in Kashmir by first sending Jagmohan as the Governor and then imposing Disturbed Areas Act (DAA) and Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the state,” the spokesperson said.

He alleged “the list of massacres and repression that was unleashed on hapless Kashmiri youth during Mufti Sayeed’s direct, unrestricted rule as the Home Minister of India constituted the darkest phase of bloodshed in recent history”.

Stating that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was “directly responsible” for the Gaw Kadal, Bijbehara, Handwara, Hawal massacres, NC spokesman said “PDP is in its last throes as people have understood mischievous character of its patron and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.”

Before 2014 elections, Mufti Sayeed left no stone unturned in making people believe that PDP will ensure effective rehabilitation of flood victims. “But five months have passed since government formation and till date except for announcements, no visible change was seen in addressing the concerns of flood victims,” he said.

The NC spokesman said, “Naeem Sahab before talking about our leaders, must read history which has recorded how Mufti Sayeed was directly responsible for filling graveyards after graveyards with our young Kashmiri brothers.”
