Governor NN Vohra, who is also the Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), today launched the SMVDU Nanotechnology Cell website.
Prof SK Jain, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Dr Yugal Khajuria, Dean of students, Prof V Verma, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, and Ajay Khajuria, Registrar, SMVDU, were also present on the occasion, said an official spokesperson. The cell was established by the university a few months ago. Its aim is to create an advance research atmosphere for students and researchers, the spokesperson said.
Faculty members of various schools who have experience in sub-areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology are the member of the cell, the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson said the activities of the cell were at present being taken care of by Dr Vinay Kumar (coordinator, Nanotechnology Cell) from the School of Physics.
Since its establishment, cell members have published more than 20 peer-reviewed international research papers, adding that the purpose of the website (http://nanotechcell.smvdu.net.in/) was multi-pronged with focus on creating awareness on recent developments in nanoscience and nanotechnology among students of the SMVDU and nearby institutions. The website offers a wealth of up-to-date information on ongoing research activities to active researchers in the field.
