Road Safety Alert: KCCI Calls for Action Against Juvenile Driving in Kashmir

KCCI Expresses Deep Concern Over Rising Road Accidents Involving Juvenile Drivers in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir – The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has raised alarm over the escalating trend of road accidents involving juvenile drivers in the region. Describing it as a “loss of valuable assets” for the community, the KCCI emphasized the urgent need to address this growing issue.

Heartbreaking Loss of Young Lives

The rising number of road accidents, especially those involving underage drivers, has left the community in distress. The loss of young lives in such tragic circumstances is profoundly upsetting, and the impact on the affected families is immeasurable. The KCCI expressed deep sympathy for the families who have lost their loved ones in these preventable accidents.

Questioning the Role of Guardians and Authorities

The KCCI highlighted the critical questions that arise from these incidents: Why are minors being allowed to operate vehicles, even simple ones like scooters, on our roads? The organization emphasized that the death of young individuals represents a significant setback for the region, as they are considered the future assets of Kashmir.

“The loss of these young lives is a loss of our most precious resources. Entire families are left devastated, and it is a social issue that demands urgent attention,” stated a KCCI representative.

Calls for Stringent Enforcement of Traffic Laws

The KCCI has called upon traffic police authorities to take strict action against any minors found operating vehicles. The organization stressed the importance of enforcing traffic laws rigorously to prevent such tragedies from occurring. “It is the responsibility of parents to ensure their children are not jeopardizing their own lives and the lives of others by driving underage or without a license. We urge the community to be vigilant and report any instances of minors driving to the relevant authorities,” urged the KCCI.

A Multi-Pronged Approach to Road Safety

The KCCI emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to address this issue. “It is high time we address this issue holistically. We need a multi-pronged approach that involves strengthening traffic enforcement, enhancing road safety measures, and most importantly, instilling a sense of responsibility among parents and young people. The future of Kashmir’s youth is at stake, and we cannot afford to lose any more lives to this preventable crisis,” the KCCI representative added.

The Role of Parents and Community

The organization reiterated the importance of parental responsibility in ensuring that children do not have access to vehicles until they are of legal driving age and have received proper training. The KCCI called on the community to be vigilant and proactive in reporting any instances of minors driving to the authorities.
