Four Day Wet Weather in Kashmir From Tomorrow: MeT

Srinagar, February 23, 2025 – The Meteorological Department in Srinagar has predicted a four-day wet weather spell with light to moderate rain and snow at most places across Jammu and Kashmir starting from February 25. The weather is expected to remain generally dry until February 24, after which the region will experience cloudy conditions with precipitation.

The MeT office has indicated that from February 25 until the end of the month, the weather will remain generally cloudy with light to moderate rain and snow at most locations. Isolated areas in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions may experience heavy rain and snow. This forecast has prompted the issuance of an advisory for residents and travelers.

Advisory for Travelers and Farmers

The advisory warns of potential temporary disruptions in surface transportation, particularly over key passes and roads such as Sadhna Pass, Razdan Pass, Sonamarg-Zojila-Gumri axis, Mughal Road, Sinthan Pass, and other major roads in hilly districts. “Tourists, travelers, and transporters are advised to plan their trips accordingly and follow Admin/Traffic advisory,” the advisory stated. Additionally, farmers are advised to suspend irrigation and other farm operations during this period to avoid any adverse effects on their crops.

Temperature Overview

The night temperatures have slightly improved but remain below freezing at most weather stations in the Kashmir Valley. The minimum temperatures recorded during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday were as follows:

  • Srinagar: 0.0°C
  • Gulmarg (ski resort): -5.6°C
  • Pahalgam (tourist resort): -4.3°C
  • Qazigund: -0.6°C

In the Kashmir Division, the maximum temperatures witnessed an increase by 2 to 4°C on Saturday, with the highest recorded temperatures being:

  • Srinagar: 15.2°C
  • Pahalgam: 11.0°C
  • Kupwara: 15.2°C

In the Jammu Division, the night temperatures also saw a slight drop, with the following recordings:

  • Bhaderwah: 1.2°C
  • Banihal: 3.2°C
  • Jammu: 9.2°C
  • Batote: 5.1°C

The day temperatures recorded the previous day in Jammu were:

  • Jammu: 23.5°C
  • Kathua: 22.8°C
  • Batote: 15.4°C
  • Katra: 21.6°C
