Intermittent Rains and Snow Predicted in Jammu & Kashmir Until March 16; Farmers Advised to Pause Operations
Srinagar, March 9 – The Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent rains and snowfall across parts of Jammu and Kashmir from tonight until March 16. The advisory comes as travelers and farmers are urged to take precautions amid expected weather disruptions.
An official from the department stated that light rains and snow are expected at scattered locations starting tonight. On March 10, light to moderate rains and snowfall are likely over higher altitudes in the region.
From March 11 to 16, intermittent light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are predicted to occur across many areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Precautionary Measures Advised Travelers, tourists, and transporters have been advised to adhere to weather updates and follow guidance issued by the administration and traffic department. “Avoiding sloppy and avalanche-prone areas during this period is crucial for safety,” the official stated.
Farmers have been specifically advised to suspend all agricultural operations between March 10 and 16, given the expected weather conditions that could disrupt farming activities and harm crops.
The advisory has raised concerns among locals, particularly those residing in vulnerable areas, as they prepare for potential challenges stemming from this extended spell of adverse weather.
