Police Intensify Security Measures Across Border & Mountainous Areas
In the aftermath of the deadly Delhi blast, the Jammu region has been placed on high alert. Security forces have launched a region-wide safety operation, tightening surveillance across border zones, mountain belts, and critical transport routes.
Checkpoints have been established at multiple locations, while Village Defence Guards (VDGs) have been put on alert — particularly in sensitive areas near the International Border and infiltration-prone stretches.
Police Heighten Vigilance in Samba
At District Police Lines (DPL) Samba, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Virender Singh chaired an interaction meeting with VDG members to review the prevailing security scenario.
“The meeting aimed to sensitise VDG members about the current situation and brief them on their duties and responsibilities,” the police statement said.
The SSP emphasised that VDGs form the first line of community defence, playing a crucial role in maintaining peace and coordination with local police and paramilitary units.
To boost readiness, ongoing weapon-handling and firing practice sessions are being conducted for VDGs. Officers have been directed to hold such training sessions regularly, ensuring sustained operational preparedness.
Ramban SSP Leads Joint Security Review
Meanwhile, SSP Ramban Arun Gupta convened a joint security review meeting with officials from the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (12 RR, 23 RR, 48 RR, and 11 Sector RR), CRPF battalions (166 and 84), and central intelligence agencies.
The meeting reviewed:

Security of vital installations and newly developed tourist destinations.

Training and weapon drills for Village Defence Guards.

Action plans against anti-national elements (ANEs) and over-ground workers (OGWs).

Fortification of the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).

Winter counter-insurgency strategy and mock drills for emergency response.

Monitoring of social media and encrypted apps exploited by anti-national operatives.
SSP Gupta underscored the importance of seamless coordination, proactive intelligence sharing, and enhanced surveillance during the winter months to prevent infiltration or sabotage.
District-Wide Security Reinforcements
Across Kishtwar and Doda, police have issued strict advisories to all hotels and guest houses to:

Submit Form C for every guest through the official portal on the day of arrival.

Ensure all CCTV cameras at reception and entry/exit points remain fully functional.

Record passport and visa details of all foreign visitors accurately.
