Fresh Snowfall In Upper Reaches
Srinagar Dec 27: With Kashmir valley reeling under intense cold, upper reaches on Thursday received fresh snowfall even as MeT predicts more snow and rains in coming days.

“Higher reaches of the Valley, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Gurez and parts of Pir Panchal range, received fresh snowfall today. Rain was also recorded in parts of Anantnag, Kupwara and Bandipora districts,” Director Meteorology, Sonam Lotus said. “On Dec 28 and 29, snowfall will occur at most of the places across the Valley, plains are likely to receive mild snowfall,” he said.
Valley remained gripped under intense cold today as day temperature showed considerable fall as compared to last few days. Sky also remained overcast for the whole day with reduced visibility due to fog.
“Due to ongoing cold wave the day temperature dropped several degrees while as night temperature showed a considerable increase,” Lotus said. “Weather will improve from 30 December but temperatures are likely to decrease,” he said.
The MeT department official said that the summer capital Srinagar recorded minimum temperature of 2 degree, 5 degrees above yesterday’s temperature of minus 2.9 degree and maximum of 6.3 degree Celsius. Gulmarg recorded minimum of minus 4.6 degree Celsius while as Pahalgam recorded minimum of minus 0.7 degree Celsius and maximum of 3.2 degree Celsius. Leh which remained coldest place of the region recorded minimum of minus 11.9 degree and maximum of 0.1 degree Celsius.
