Modi wants Jammu to root out Congress

Seeks votes to end ‘regional discrimination’ in JK

Ahead of the fifth and last phase of Assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday urged people of Jammu division to root out Congress from all the 20 constituencies of the state going to polls on December 21.
Addressing a public rally in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district, Modi also attacked Kashmir-centric political parties including National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party for their “misgovernance” in Jammu and Kashmir and urged people not to give them any chance to form government in the State again.
Modi said people in Kashmir don’t allow Congress party to enter in the valley “following which they mislead people in Jammu division and played their politics”.
Accusing Congress of discriminating with Jammu division, the prime minister said: “Jammu became the victim of Congress party as Kashmiris did not fall into their trap and they have succeeded to mislead people of this division.”
“If people understand agenda of Congress party then they should give punishment to this party so they could not manage even a single vote from any of the 20 assembly seats of Jammu,” Modi said.
“It was Congress party which has handed over Jammu to dynastic rule of PDP and NC.”
The prime minister said J&K needs corruption-free government, developmental agenda, good future of the youth and employment for which people should give clear majority to BJP government.
“They (NC-PDP-Congress) exploited you because there was no alternative but now you have an alternative in BJP,” he said.
Accusing the previous governments of discriminating with Jammu people, he said whenever he used to come to Jammu as a BJP worker he learnt about the discrimination with them.
“They (Kashmiri-centric governments) did not count us (Jammu people). Do you want to face this discrimination again? Are you ready to end the discrimination?”
Modi said when he went to Srinagar people complained that even areas around the tourist hub of Dal Lake faced underdevelopment.
“If parts of Srinagar like Jammu are also not properly developed then discrimination is in their (Congress-NC-PDP) DNA because they were ruling the State from past five decades.”
He asked people to teach lessons to these political parties in fifth phase of elections.
“Give them retirement from politics so that they can sit at home and care for their children which they have been doing sitting in the government,” Modi said.
He assured equal development in all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir and appealed people to give clear majority to BJP so that it can form government as well like in Maharashtra and Haryana.
Prior to the elections, he said political pundits were claiming that BJP would not be able to form government at Centre, Maharashtra and Haryana “but their exit polls were proved to be false by BJP”.
“Congress never wants good governance in Jammu and Kashmir. They always want a government without majority like a chair without fourth leg. They sneak into the government though back door and come out of it three months before elections. Then Congress targets same coalition alliance with whom they remain in power,” he said.
“This time power has come in your hands to bring change in J&K politics. First time Kashmiris have stood with Jammu people since they too want change.”
