BJP slams ‘irresponsible’ decision

Reacting strongly to Omar Abdullah’s decision to step down as caretaker Chief Minister, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) Thursday said he is running away from his duties before time.
BJP’s General Secretary (Organization), Ashok Koul, told that Omar should not have resigned before January 18 which was the last day for his duty as a caretaker chief minister.
“This way he compelled the Governor to submit his recommendations for Governor’s rule in J&K. Had he been a responsible person he would have never resigned,” Koul said.
Koul confirmed that Governor has submitted his recommendations to the Centre in which one recommendation is about Governor’s rule.
Omar Thursday asked Vohra to relieve him as caretaker Chief Minister after meeting him in Delhi last night soon after his return from London.
“Governor has requested Centre to favor for Governor’s rule this evening. Let us see what happens. Rest we will decide soon what to do further. Resignation of Omar Abdullah is a sign of carelessness. He could have shown responsibility till his slated time,” Koul commented.
Sources in BJP said Omar Abdullah’s resignation is just to create panic among the political parties to take decisions in haste.
“It is a deliberate action so that parties would panic and take decision in hurry over government formation” sources said.
Omar’s move might heat up the politicking among political parties over the formation of government in coming days.
