Flood Alert sounded along the tributaries as water level increases

After the continuous rains and snow lashing Kashmir valley from last two days, Irrigation & Flood Control Department has issued an alert at the number of places after water flows above the danger mark in different tributaries.

The water level is continuously rising in Vishav Nala in south Kashmir and in north Kashmir water level has crossed the danger mark in Nala Madhumati, Nala Erin, and Nala Feroz, Ab officials of Irrigation & Flood Control Department, who are monitoring the situation said.

All the nearby areas around these tributaries have been advised to move to safer places, the officials said.

The current water level of Jhelum at Sangam is 16.5 feet and the danger mark is 18 t0 20 feet, at Ram Munshi Bagh water level is 13.9 feet and the danger mark is 16 to 18 feet, Asham is indicating water level 8.25 feet and the danger mark is 14 feet, officials said.

The water level in Jhelum at Sangam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district has almost touched the 18ft ‘flood alarm level”.

Asham = 8.91 ft

Vishow Nallah at Khudwani = 7.63 m
Rambiyara Nallah at Vachi = 1.78 m
Lidder Nallah at Batkoot = 0.89 m
