College students clash with police, SHO hit during stone pelting, Clashes trigger partial shutdown in city centre

The students of SP College on Monday clashed with the government forces in MA road area of Srinagar.
Witnesses said that the students of the college staged protests inside the campus.
However, police used tear gas to prevent the protesting students from marching into the streets, triggering clashes.

The Station House Officer (SHO) of Kralkhud police station was hospitalized after a stone hit his head during clashes near SP College Srinagar on Monday.
Witnesses said that Suhail Mushtaq was hit by a stone in his head as clashes erupted between students of the college and police. He was shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment, they said.

Police used tear gas to disperse the students who were throwing stones. Shopkeepers lowered their shutters around the Regal Chowk area due to the clashes. Traffic movement was also affected.
