Ration shortage triggers protest in Jammu

The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena (DF&SS) today held a protest demonstration in the city against Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department over shortage of ration and deletion of names from ration card lists.
Carrying empty utensils, the protesters led by DF&SS president, Ashok Gupta raised slogans against the government for not supplying ration in the government depots as also deleting the names of some ration card holders, especially the BPL families, from the list thus depriving them of the ration commodities.
As per a press note, the protesters threatened to gharo the concerned minister if ration is not supplied in the depots and the names removed from the ration list are not added back.
Ashok Gupta, while flaying the government, said that due to non-availability of ration in the government depots, the people, especially BPL families, are facing lots of problems.
They are forced to buy ration commodities from the market at much higher rates, he said.
Gupta alleged that under NFSA a large number of genuine ration cards have been cancelled.
He demanded 10 kg atta per member to each family saying that 7 kg per member is not sufficient.
He also demanded that all the ration card holders i.e BPL and APL families should get the benefit of the Food Security Bill.
He also demanded inclusion of edible oil, sugar, salt, pulses, vegetables, LPG and kerosene oil in the NFSA.
Bodh Raj, Tony, Vijay, Bantu, Kali Das, Rajinder, Gyan, Shan, Ganesh, Abhishek and various others participated in the demonstration.
