Protests continue in Pulwama
Shutdown, stone pelting, aerial firing
Amid complete shutdown, incidents of stone pelting by youth and aerial firing by forces were witnessed in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday as protests continued against killing of two militants.
Reports said that youth pelted stones on paramilitary CRPF vehicles near Samboora this morning. The forces fired in air to disperse the youth. Later local residents protested against the killing of two militants by forces two days ago. They were raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
Complete strike was observed in Kakapora, Samboora, Lelhara and Kisargam villages against the killing of the militants. All shops, offices and other establishments were closed while there was a very thin movement of transport on roads.
Two local militants were killed by forces in an encounter in Reshipora Kakapora on June 8. The militants were identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Lelhara Pulwama and Mudasir Ahmad of Kisargam Kakapora.
