Rains expected from today
More trouble is in store for flood affected people of Kashmir as fresh Western Disturbances (WD) are approaching the valley and are likely to result in rains and snowfall for two days from Friday morning.
Director Meteorological Department, Sonam Lotus, told Greater Kashmir that there would be light to moderate rain in plains from early Friday morning. He said that higher reaches will witness snowfall.
He said fresh disturbances originating in Arabian Sea are approaching the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan. “It will affect Kashmir for two days,” he said, adding the maximum temperature will also show a considerable drop. “Today it was slight hot day as compared to previous days. That is one of the indications of rains,” Lotus said.
Possible rains would add to the miseries of floods hit people of Kashmir as many people are still living in tents.
