BJP blames ‘incapable’ Omar, ‘narrow-minded’ NC for enforcing Governor’s rule

‘PDP responsible for prolonging stalemate over Govt formation’

The rightwing BJP Friday blamed ‘incapable’ Omar Abdullah and his ‘narrow-minded’ National Conference for enforcing Governor’s rule in the State.
BJP’s General Secretary (Organization), Ashok Koul, told that BJP wanted to strengthen democratic system in the State and not a forcible Governor’s rule.
“We were not ready for the Governor’s rule in the State but sooner or later somebody had to lead the State in view of political uncertainty. We want to strengthen democratic system in the State but it seems Kashmir centric parties do not want democracy,” he said.
Blaming Omar Abdullah for enforcing Governor’s rule in the State, Koul said he has shown his incapability of performing his duties.
“Omar resigned because of his incapability. Without government, Governor’s rule was necessary but it should not have happened,” he said.
On talks with PDP, Koul said the party was not showing positive response towards BJP. “It is the reason for prolonging of stalemate over government formation in the State”.
“It is not us (BJP) but it is PDP, which is responsible for delay in government formation. We put forth three conditions to which PDP did not respond. We are very open from our side but unfortunately PDP is not responding well,” he said.
Terming imposition of Governor’s rule as a ‘forcible decision’, BJP leader said, “Governor’s rule has been imposed because of narrow mentality of Kashmir-centric parties especially, National Conference.”
“The political parties must open their minds to have fruitful results and discussions. They need to come out of the narrow mindset and choose wisely what is good for the state. Nevertheless, we are quite open to all and will welcome good decisions over government formation,” Koul added.
