DSEK hints at extending winter break for schools

Hinting at the possibility about winter break for schools being extended in Kashmir in wake of the prevailing swine flu threat, Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Wednesday said the department would follow the advisory issued by the Health Department.
DSEK, Showkat Ahmad Beigh while talking to us said, “We don’t want to take any risk. We will go by the advice of the health department.” “There is no question of risking the lives of the children,” he added.
The DSEK said he has spoken to Commissioner Secretary Education about the issue. “The winter vacations will end in coming week. Till then we will announce whether to winter vacations would be extended or not. The decision of extension will depend upon the advice of health department,” he said.
Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Saleem-Ur-Rehman said: “I have come to Jammu and will meet Commissioner Secretary Health tomorrow.” “We have to seek permission from Commissioner Secretary Health so that we issue a written advisory and DSEK can proceed accordingly,” he added.
