KCCI to take up pesky cellular services with GoI

Irked by pesky cellular services in Kashmir, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has decided to take up the issue with the Union Telecom Minister and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) .
In a statement, the KCCI said the telecom operators in Kashmr have become “irritants” for subscribers.
“Telecom operators like Airtel, Aircel, Reliance, Vodafone are continuously failing to provide uninterrupted  and smooth telecom service to its users which has become a cause of anguish for masses in the Valley. Even the major telephone  operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has failed to revive the system effectively,” the statement said.
It said the issue was discussed in the KCCI’s executive committee meeting presided by Senior Vice President Mushtaq Ahmad Wani. “The committee expressed serious concern over poor telecommunication service prevailing in Kashmir ever since devastating floods hit Valley last year. It decided to take up the issue with TRAI and central government,” the statement said.
“The issue  has been reported to the authorities repeatedly, however the situation on the ground remains unchanged. The paralyzed telephone landlines and mobile service is causing  inexplicable problems in the conduct of daily business in the market places as also in common life,” it said.
It states that landlines in Lal Chowk, Raj Bagh, Jawahar Nagar, Buchwara Dalgate, Indra Nagar and other areas of the Srinagar City are either dead or working intermittently.
“Due to frequent failure of the system subscribers have to dial repeated calls and bear. It has been noted with astonishment that damages caused by flood has become somewhat like eternal excuse with the telecom services operators for their  failure to overhaul their system,” the statement added.
