Coaching centres risk lives of students in north Kashmir

Coaching centres operating in this north Kashmir district and other adjoining areas have paid no heed to the advice of the Coaching Centres Association (CCA) to suspend the operations temporarily to prevent students from catching the H1NI influenza.

The CCA had issued a statement on Sunday that all the coaching centres across Kashmir would remain closed in the backdrop of H1N1 virus threat, however, coaching centres operating in Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora have not paid any heed to the suggestion put forward by the CCA, thus putting the lives of students at risk.

According to chairman CCA Kashmir G N Var there are around 145 coaching centres operating in three districts of north Kashmir, where thousands of students are being imparted education.

“We have advised the owners of coaching centres across the Kashmir to close down all the coaching centres till the threat of H1N1 virus is minimized. However, I believe the message has not gone completely,” said G N Var, chairman CCA.

Worried over the fate of their wards, scores of parents had termed the attitude of coaching centre owners as ‘disgusting’ and ‘irresponsible’.

“If any student in a coaching centre catches Swine Flu he can prove to be a threat for scores of other students. We request all the coaching centre owners who happen to be well versed with the potential threat of this disease to close down these centres till this threat is at least minimised” said Ghulam Rasool, a local resident.

Deputy commissioner Baramulla Tallat Parvez while talking to us he said that we have taken note of parents concern and would act accordingly.
