CS reviews work on Highway projects

Chief Secretary, Muhammad Iqbal Khandey on Monday reviewed the pace of work on the 4-lane national highway and discussed issues pertaining to the implementation of NHAI projects in Jammu region, in a meeting he chaired here.  Chief Secretary received brief on the status of pending land acquisition cases in some stretches of the highway and asked the concerned Deputy Commissioners and NHAI officials to complete the process at the earliest so that work on the left-out stretches are completed.
He also asked NHAI officials to take up the repair work of highway particularly the Qazigund-Srinagar section of the road which is in a bad shape. Khandey also stressed them to provide overhead walkways, underpasses, service roads, drainage facilities, besides protection works along the highway.
Issues pertaining to user-fee collection at different Toll Plazas along the highway were also discussed in the meeting.
Principal Secretary Finance, B B Vyas; Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu; Commissioner Secretary R&B, Tanvir Jehan; Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Vinod Koul; Commissioner Excise, Nirmal Sharma; Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Udhampur and Ramban; NHAI officials and other officers were present in the meeting.
