Missionary schools demand extra fee from students, says Parents

Scores of parents Monday staged a protest against Christian Missionary schools including Biscoe Tyndale and Mallinson against the management’s decision to demand extra fee from higher class students.

Parents of the Biscoe and Mallinson students appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar and amid anti-school administration slogans alleged that instead of providing quality and moral based education, the Christian Missionary schools have been always devising new methods to loot the poor parents.

“Our class 11th and 12th students have been studying in these schools and we have already paid their fee in lump sum when they secured admission. Some parents paid Rs 55,000, others 35,000 depending on the stream of the students. To our surprise and shock, the school management refused to provide Roll Number slips to our wards and directed them to pay extra fee of Rs 8,000 before sitting in the examination halls,” one of the protestor said.

The protesting parents said that their wards were supposed to appear in examination in November last year, but due to floods, examination was postponed while students did not attend the school at all. “How come the school management now demands Rs 8,000 extra from us? School authorities have been doing injustice. Our children are perturbed and depressed after school management refused to provide them Roll number slips,” they said.

The protesting parents alleged that higher authorities are shielding the influential school management and never initiate any action against them for their wrong-doings. “Where are the authorities and why they are silent on the issue,” they said.

When contacted, the Human Resource official of the School informed  that School management has already got a nod from the Director School Education in this regard and all the students right from pre-nursery to class 12th have been asked to pay extra fee. “It is the decision of the management and students ought to pay the extra fee,” she said.
