Army using UAVs for vigil along LAC in Ladakh against chinese incursion

Flag meeting between Indian and Chinese officials in May

Following repeated incursions by Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, Army has intensified the surveillance and deploying the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and latest gadgets including radar systems to keep a vigil along the frontier.
Sources said Defence Ministry has taken up the issue of Chinese troops’ incursions along the Demchok side with the Chinese government after it had received inputs from the state government about the repeated incursions.
“There have been recent repeated incursions from the Chinese side. The matter was taken up with China at the diplomatic level as well as in the flag meetings. There remains a consistent misunderstanding as there is no commonly delineated LAC between India and China. There are areas along the border where India and China have differing perception of LAC due to which Chinese troops have been patrolling deep inside our area,” said a senior defence official.
He, however, said both the sides have maintained calm along the LAC and there have been no exchange of fire despite recurring incidents of incursions.
The official said the deployment along the LAC has been intensified. “We are using remotely operated UAVs, radars, helicopters and other sophisticated gadgets for increased surveillance”.
A senior government official said the repeated transgressions by the Chinese army have been brought to notice of the Central government by the state after the recent transgressions by Chinese troops from the Demchok side.
“The matter was taken up with the Chinese side during the flag meetings and at the diplomatic level as well. The matter has been deliberated at joint consultative committee level on India-China border affairs,” he said.
According to officials in Defence Ministry, the flag meeting between the army commanders of India and China is scheduled in May. “The issue of repeated incursions by Chinese troops in Ladakh will be strongly highlighted during the flag meeting.”
“We have also taken matter with Defence and External Affairs ministries,” they said.
Deputy Commissioner Leh, Saugat Biswas, refused to comment over the issue.
“I need to check the records about transgressions from Chinese side,” he said.
