Kashmiri Pandits to observe bandh on Tuesday against opposition of township

Kashmiri Pandits’ (KPs) biggest township in Jammu, Jagti township, will observe shutdown on Tuesday in protest against those who are opposing the return and rehabilitation of the displaced community members in a composite township in Kashmir Valley.

“We have decided to observe shutdown in Jagti township tomorrow in protest against those in Kashmir who opposed the settlement of KPs in a proposed township in Kashmir Valley,” president, Jagti Tenement Committee, Shadi Lal Pandita said today.

Jagti is the biggest township of KPs with nearly 5,000 quarters located in Nagrota belt in outskirts of Jammu city.

The decision was taken by all the political as well as social organisations of Jagti migrant camp, he said, adding that the shutdown will be organised in connection with protest against those who have been opposing a composite township for rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandit migrant community in Kashmir Valley.

All political parties and Bar Association have been appealed to support the shutdown and protest rally to be held at Jagti, he said.

The police authorities concerned have been requested to observe proper check during the shutdown to defeat nefarious designs of anti-social elements to ensure peaceful shutdown in Jagti migrant camp.
