Business community aghast over killing of youth in Kashmir

The Valley-based business community today condemned the killing of Kashmiri youth in recent firing incidents.
Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation and Kashmir Economic Alliance in a statement termed such killings as a vicious cycle being repeated from time to time.
Chairman, KEA, Muhammad Yasin Khan said the boy in Narbal was killed when Kashmir was mourning the loss of a Tral youth who was killed in an Army operation.
“Kashmiri youth are being killed with a pattern, as part of some deep rooted conspiracy. If our children continue to be killed like this, we cannot remain silent. Those at the helm should realize it and refrain from testing our patience,” Khan said.
He said, “There’s no accountability in the government. Cosmetic measures like suspending the cop involved in the killing or ordering magisterial inquiries won’t do. The immunity enjoyed by the trigger-happy forces needs to be put to an end,” Khan said.
Publicity chief, KTMF, Farhan Kitab said: “No sane and civilized nation can ever be silent on such cold-blooded murders, which have become a routine in Kashmir.”
He said the government should rise to the occasion and see to it that no innocent person becomes victim of mindless violence perpetrated by the trigger-happy security forces in Kashmir.
To mention, a teenager was shot dead in police firing in Narbal area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday, triggering massive protests in several areas of Kashmir.
Earlier, a civilian was killed in Army firing in Tral forests of south Kashmir on Monday afternoon, triggering massive protests throughout the Valley.
