Hurriyat (M) leads special prayers seeking forgiveness

Hirriyat Conference (M) Friday offered special prayers seeking forgiveness from Almighty Allah as continuous heavy rainfall has once again brought Kashmir close to another flood in a six month span.
A Hurriyat (M) spokesperson in a statement said heavy rains have also caused wide spread destruction of houses and infrastructure.
To seek forgiveness from Allah and to beseech him to evade another flood like situation within the span of six months, Kashmiris today offered special prayers in shrines, Imam Baras, and mosques on Friday.
The biggest congregation of special prayers (Toub-e-Istigfaar) for seeking forgiveness from Allah was led by Hurriyat (M) chairman and head of Muthaida Majlis-e-Ulema, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at historic Jamia Masjid here during which large number of people participated and begged from Allah to grant mercy and extricate them from the current difficult situation.
The scene was emotional when people bowed their heads, wept and begged Allah, seeking forgiveness and pity. Leading the prayers on the occasion, Mirwaiz while praying for the well being of Muslim Ummah and allaying of the problems faced by them, said within the span of six months, Allah has again put Kashmiris to test. “Continuous rains have wrecked havoc and devastation in Kashmir. Several people have been killed, infrastructure damage and people have become homeless as their houses collapsed to due landslides and flood.”
Mirwaiz said the current situation should turn people closer to Allah and they should follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SWT) (PBUH) in letter and spirit. “It was but natural that Allah would send its wrath during those times when there is gradual degradation of morals in the society and when people would indulge more and more in futile rituals and activities,” he said.
The Hurriyat (M) chairman said the time has come that people learn from their mistakes and seek forgiveness and mercy from Allah. He said besides working towards social reforms, individual reforms were also must.
Mirwaiz also prayed for the victims of Laden, Budgam beseeching Allah to grant them place in jannat.
