Pattan likely to be Valley’s largest milk producer tehsil - AnsariThree villages of Pattan area of north Kashmir -Trikolbal, Janwanipora and Mundyari – will be developed as Veterinary Model Villages during current fiscal where all medicare and vaccination facilities for cattle-heads would be provided free of cost.
The decision to this effect was taken at an officers meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Moulvi  Imran  Raza Ansari.
The Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir Dr. Shamus-ud-din Makhdoomi besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting. The meeting also decided that village Ranbail in Pattan Assembly Constituency will be developed as poultry development cluster.
The meeting took various other decisions, aiming at improving the activities of Animal Husbandry department in Pattan Tehsil and was informed that Ambulance Clinic Facilities would be kept available at tehsil headquarters Pattan.
Other issues which were discussed in the meeting include introduction of dairy development programme in Pattan, incentives to dairy co-operatives and shifting of Animal Husbandry Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister urged upon the Director Animal Husbandry to organize awareness camps in Pattan Tehsil so that more and more people could take advantage of programmes and policies of the government.
Moulvi Ansari said Pattan Tehsil has good potential to become the largest milk producer tehsil in the Valley. For this, he said, all efforts are being made to motivate more and more people towards this vital sector of economy.
The minister also asked Director Animal Husbandry to speed up the process of compensation to the livestock owners whose cattle perished in the floods.
Earlier, the minister received the resume of the activities of animal husbandry from the director.
The minister was informed that there are 30 Veterinary Centers working in the tehsil which include 20 centers on regular basis and 10 centers on trial basis.
