CBI raids Beacon offices in Kupwara, seizes records

The Central Bureau of Investigation today raided the office of 99 RCC Beacon at Handwara in Kupwara district and seized records of Chotipora- Nogam road besides taking samples of material used in the construction.

CBI raids Beacon offices in Kupwara, seizes recordsOfficials told that after complaints of use of substandard material in road project which was going to connect famous tourist spot Bungas valley with Handwara, a CBI team in a surprise raid seized important documents of the road project.

Construction of Chotipora-Nogam road, a 19.4 kilometer stretch, was started by 99 RCC of Beacon with an approved cost of Rs 100 crore in 2010. The target for the completion of this important road project was fixed for 2012 but since then several deadlines got elapsed due to slow pace of work. Officials said that just 20 percent of work has been completed during the last five years.

“We are going to send the samples collected from the work site to FSL laboratory Chandigarh for cross verification. Then only we shall be able to comment about the quality of material used in the project,” said a CBI official.
