Geelani mocks at Army raising Rs 500 Cr bill

Geelani mocks at Army raising Rs 500 Cr billTerming as ‘ plunder’ of the Kashmiris’ rights the raising of Rs 500 crore bill by the Defence Ministry as charges for September 2014 flood assistance to Jammu and Kashmir, the Hurriyat Conference ( G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani today said,

“ The role of the Indian Army in the floods was a mere show as it was our youth who without caring for their lives played a lead role in rescuing and feeding the people trapped in the floods.”

“ Our youth tirelessly worked day and night and rescued the people from the deluged areas, moved them to the safer places and established mega community kitchens at different places in the valley to feed the thousands of the displaced people,” Geealni said in a statement today, adding that “ The Indian army definitely rescued and airlifted some government officials, families of the government forces, tourists and some non- state labors but they did not show any kind of sympathy for the local people.

They ( army) only dropped some expired biscuit packets at a few places.” Geelani expressed deep sorrow and surprise over the government ‘ apathy’ to rehabilitate the people who lost everything including their shelter in the September flood fury. “ It is unfortunate that the state administration took no time in paying Rs. 500 crore to the Indian army in early February without raising any objection to their false bills,” he said.
