Bring ordinance on beef ban by Eid : NC
The National Conference (NC) today asked the state government to bring an ordinance to amend the state law banning sale of beef. The NC demanded the ordinance should be brought before Eid-ul-Zuha on September 25.
NC leader Abdul Rahim Rather, while addressing a membership drive at Nagam in Budgam district today, said the ordinance route was necessary since the Assembly session starts after Eid-ul-Zuha.
“While the NC has made it clear that the party will submit a Bill to make necessary amendments to the RPC in this context, the fact that Eid-ul-Zuha falls before the start of the Assembly session makes it imperative for the government to pass an ordinance,” Rather said.
Rather said the Chief Minister should get the ordinance passed by his Cabinet and send it to the Governor “as soon as possible so as to prevent an explosive situation on Eid-ul-Zuha”.
