Farmers depressed as unknown persons set harvest ablaze in Bandipora
The farmers of Bandipora in north Kashmir Friday alleged that some unknown persons destroyed their harvested paddy crop by setting it ablaze last night.
At least seven heaps of paddy belonging to four different families at Ward No. 4 Bandipora were set on fire by unknown persons, they said.
The famers whose harvest was destroyed include Ghulam Nabi Parra, Mohammad Anwar Mir, Ghulam Rasool Mir and Mohammad Ramzan Mir.
“We worked hard throughout the year by different ways including plouging, irrigating, removal of weeds and spraying of manure during sowing season but all has been ruined,” One of the victims, Ghulam Nabi said while talking to GNS. The poor farmers appealed police to nab the culprits and urged government to compensate them for the loss. (GNS)
