Hindu religious groups take out rally against cow-slaughter
Hindu groups today took out a massive rally in the city against the PDP-BJP government for legalising bovine slaughtering in Jammu and Kashmir.
The plea of the state government will be taken for hearing before the Supreme Court tomorrow.
Representatives of various religious organisations participated in the rally and passed through different areas of the city. Villagers from adjoining villages of Jammu city also participated in the rally.
Addressing the gathering, speakers called upon the people to remain vigilant against the move of the government to legalise bovine slaughtering in Jammu and Kashmir.
They demanded setting up a separate department to protect cattle in the state.
Speakers criticised some anti-national and fundamentalist groups for supporting bovine slaughtering. They asked them to respect emotions and sentiments of minority community in the state.
