Cycling event for green cause

Cycling event for green causeProfessional cyclists, students from various schools and colleges participated in a cycling event held on the banks of the Dal Lake on Sunday.

The event was organised by an event “Impressions event management company”- founded by three students of Kashmir University.

“The event, titled “Kashmir Cyclothon” – Pedal For Kashmir, had participants from all over the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” said 23-year-old Usaid Qureshi, the event coordinator.

He said the event witnessed huge participation for supporting the cause and making a difference in society.

Chief guest for the event was Waheed Ur Rehman Para, political analyst to the Chief Minister and the guest of honour Kossar Ahmad Qureshi, chairman, J&K Labour Courts and Industrial Tribunal.

The cycling event started from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre.

The event was managed by Usaid Qureshi, Haris Zaman, Waris Hussain, Tayba Sheikh, Rakshan Buch, Amreen Sheikh and Umaid Ashraf.

“We hope that our entrepreneur activity would attract others too,” said Qureshi.

He said after forming the event management company, they decided to organise a cycling event for a cause which was to encourage people to ride bicycles to make Srinagar clean and green.

“In almost a month, we finalised all components for the race. The cyclists exhibited their talent and spread the message of clean and green Srinagar to create awareness among people of eco-friendly ways of travelling,” said Zaman.
