Javed, aka ‘Hayden’: Find of DCL 2015

After scoring 520 runs & scalping 16 wickets, Javed hopeful of Ranji call up.

Javed, aka ‘Hayden’ - Find of DCL 2015The 31-year old opening batsman, renowned for his swashbuckling batting style and leadership skill, has been a player to watch out for in the third edition of Downtown Champions League (2015).
Javed Ahmed Mir, otherwise known as ‘Sahba’ & ‘Hayden’, has led by example to ensure that his side ‘Elegant Strikers’ reach the finals of DCL this current season.
Mir has amassed 520 runs, which include six game-changing fifties, and claimed 16 wickets in the tournament. For his all-round performances with both bat and ball coupled with fair play, he has been adjudged as Player of the DCL 2015.
Mir’s all-round accomplishments and aggressive yet fair brand of cricket have been of top notch this season.
“I believe in the processes and take my daily practice and fitness very seriously. The rest follows,” Mir says.
Expressing contentment over his form and fitness, Mir hopes for a Ranji Trophy recall from the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) selectors.
“Well, God has been kind. I am doing what I know the best. That is to score runs and take wickets. I’m hopeful that the selectors are happy with my performance on the field,” he says.
Mir is hopeful about a Ranji recall and may be considered for the forthcoming Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Javed Mir is widely known in cricketing circles for he made his debut in List-A (Vijay Hazare Trophy, North Zone) and First-class (Ranji Trophy) in 2008 and first played in T20 format (Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy) in 2009.
An agile athlete and proverbial ‘safe as a house’ in the slips cordon, Mir drives, cuts & pulls the cricket ball with equal amount of ease. With the ball in his skilful hands, Mir can bowl some effective leggies and googlies too.
He has a fifty (55) in First-class cricket and averages 20.21 in seven matches, but he hasn’t always had the opportunity to open the innings in Ranji Trophy competition. His highest score in Twenty20s is 47 and 36 in List-A.
