Judicial custody of cops accused in wamiq farooq’s killing extended

A city court today extended by five days the judicial custody of the two accused policemen in teenager Wamiq Farooq killing case.

Following his death, over 100 civilians were killed in firing by personnel of security forces.
The court of Second Additional Sessions Judge today extended remand of ASI Abdul Khaliq and SPO Muhammad Akram till December 15 while posting the bail plea for same date.
“The judicial custody of the accused has been extended till December 15, when the case will come up in court,” said a lawyer.
Both policemen presented themselves in court on December 1 and were sent to judicial custody the same day by the Forest Magistrate.
Earlier today, Ajaz a Dar, counsel representing victim’s family, presented a statement related to the case.
Acting on the plea by the victim’s family, the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, ordered on December 9 withdrawal of the case related to the killing of the teenager from the court of First Additional Sessions Judge and assigned it to the court of Second Additional Sessions Judge.
In the transfer application moved in the sessions court, the parents of Wamiq Farooq submitted that they had lost confidence in the court of First Additional Sessions Judge for “disclosing his mind” even before the arguments in the bail application concluded.
