‘Hard work, setting targets helped us achieve our goal’; Class 12 toppers

Students who bagged top three positions in class XII examinations, results of which were declared on Thursday, attributed their success to hard work and setting targets.

Hailing from Khankah Bagh village in South Kashmir’s Pampore, Bushra bagged the first position in the science stream of 12th class Board of School Education (BOSE) examination. She scored 489 (97.8%) marks out of 500.

“Hard work has no substitute. Besides, parental support proved fruitful for me,” Bushra said, adding that achieving goals doesn’t demand burning midnight oil.

“To study during morning hours is better. During night 11 pm was my limit to study,” she said, adding, “I was never a book worm.”

Meelad Muhammad Sheikh of Tyndale Biscoe bagged second position. He had aimed at competitive exams while preparing for 12th class. He scored 488 marks (97.6%) marks to get the second slot in science stream.

“To solve difficult question gives me more confidence. I aimed to crack the competitive exam while I was preparing for annual exams of 12th class,” he said. “I didn’t study to score marks but to learn about subjects. “I look forward to learn the things.”

Meelad, a resident of Gulshan Nagar, was also 2nd topper in class 10 exams. “Once your concepts are clear, you can go ahead to any limit,” he said, adding that smart work proves more fruitful than hard work. “You need to be smart to understand what you study.”

Hafsa Masood of Mallinson Girls Higher Secondary School bagged the third position. She scored 487 (97.4%) marks out of 500.

Aasima Khursheed Wani from Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School Srinagar scored 484 (96.8%) out of 500.

A resident of old city Khnayar, Aasima believes that being focused on merit list isn’t a big deal for students who aim at competitive exams.

“It is not important to get positions but we must have an exam oriented strategy to crack competitive exams,” Aasima said, adding that proper planning and time management plays vital role in achieving target. “For me private tuitions and school study played equal role in achieving success.”

POSITION HOLDERS IN COMMERCE STREAM

“I didn’t have any special strategy for studies but concentration and handwork of course has no substitute,” said Tehneez Bashir Wani of Green Valley Educational Institute Srinagar. Tehneez scored 471 (94.2%) marks to get the Ist position.

A resident of Kanitar Naseembagh, Tehneez said that giving respect to teachers helps a student to be successful. “Studying more and giving respect to teachers helps.”

For Anifa Gulzar, parental guidance coupled with teachers’ support was reason behind her success. A resident of Badshah Nagar Natipora, Anifa studied in Candid Higher Secondary School Nowgam and scored 469 (93.8%) marks to emerge as 2nd topper in Commerce stream.

“Dedication and understanding of your subject plays key role in achieving your goal,” she said, adding that her school was very supportive for the students. “My school teachers made my base, besides parents’ support and understanding the subject plays a vital role to achieve the set target.”

Furqan Showkat Banday, a student of Government Higher Secondary School Anantnag bagged the 3rd position in commerce stream. A resident of Nanil village, Showkat scored 467 (93.4%) marks.

Showkat attributed his success to the blessings of Almighty and wishes of his parents.

“Credit goes to my teachers and my parents,” he said, adding that hard work pays in the long run if students give their whole potential to achieve their set goal. “My achievement is a blessing from Allah and result of parents’ wishes and prayers for me. Parental support gave me confidence to achieve my goal.”

ARTS POSITION HOLDERS

In Arts stream all the first three positions were bagged by the girl students of Jamiat-ul-Banat, Umer Colony Lal Bazaar Srinagar.

A resident of Tral town, Aiman Jan Habeeb scored 486 (97.2%) marks and bagged the first position. Aiman gave credit to her teachers and school management for her success.

“I put up at hostel of my school and studied with dedication,” she said, adding that student must be focused on his/her future at the time of choosing the subject. “I was focused from the beginning and opted for Arts as I want to become an IAS officer.”

For her burning midnight oil is not the only means to achieve the set target but one’s will power brings confidence among the students to achieve their target. “Even if you study for only two hours it should be with concentration. You should be able to understand your subject and one should be firm that he/she has to do it and will do it,” she said.

Suraya Nazir and Ummi Hadaya bagged the second and third position in Arts stream. Suraya scored 480 (96%) marks while as Ummi got 479 (95.8%) marks out of 500.

TOPPERS IN HOME SCIENCE:

In Home Science stream, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh bagged the first three positions while as a student of Government HSS Anantnag shared third position as well.

For Iflah Shabir of Government GGHSS Kothi Bagh, who scored first position, being focused and dedicated towards the subject is the key to success.

“It was my target to be among toppers and I worked to achieve it from the beginning of the session,” she said and also attributed her success to the teachers who taught her in Kothi Bagh HSS.

Iflah Shabir scored 471 (94.2%) marks out of 500. “You should act as own guide if you want to achieve the target. And there is no need for additional tuitions if you work hard.”

For Nasheman Ashraf of Government Girls HSS Kothi Bagh dedication proved fruitful for her success. She scored 469 (83.8%) marks out of 500 marks to bag the second slot in Home Science stream.

“I used to study for two to three hours with attention and focus. You should remain focused towards your goal to achieve it,” she said and attributed her success to her family members and teachers.

A resident of Jawahar Nagar, Nasheman says that Home Science is not the subject related to only cooking. “It is a multi disciplinary subject with a huge scope. Students and parents should not treat it as a stream for cooking.”

A student of GGHSS Kothi Bagh, Bisma Nazir from Bagh-e-Mehtab Srinagar shared third position with Mehak Nazir of Girls higher secondary School Anantnag.

The duo scored 444 (88%) masks out 500. “I was expecting much but I am satisfied with what I got at the end,” she said and credited her success to the efforts by the school teachers. “I used to revise what we used to study in school on daily basis.”

For Mehak Nazir Wani of Girls higher secondary school Anantnag who shared third position with Bisma, teachers were source of encouragement. “We should study our subjects with utmost dedication,” she said, adding that being attentive in classes proves fruitful for students. “I was not a book worm but I studied my subject with dedication during last months of the session.”
