NC to never ally with BJP, says Omar

NC to never ally with BJP, says OmarFormer Chief Minister and National Conference working president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said his party would “never enter into any sort of an alliance” with the BJP.
Omar said he would “rather quit politics than compromise with the honour and dignity of the state and its people”.
“The PDP has risked the political rights and interests of our people in order to clench on to power in an embrace with the BJP while BJP and RSS leaders continue to spew
venom against minorities and continue to threaten them with dire consequences,” Omar said addressing a public meeting in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
“I can never have anything to do with these people and would refuse every position of power that comes at the cost  of the dignity of my people,” he said.
Omar also lashed out at the PDP for allying with the BJP and termed it as a “sell-out”. “The PDP’s sell-out to the BJP brought with it disillusionment, disempowerment and contempt for the people of the state,” he said.
The NC leader said the PDP entered into an alliance with those “who want to abolish our flag, destroy the foundations of our special status and patronise those who persecute people on the basis of what they eat and do not eat”.
“Last year, the BJP used its alliance with the PDP in J&K as a certificate to disguise its politics of polarisation as that of inclusivity,” he said.
Omar said the PDP was “still extremely keen” on forming the government with the BJP and claimed that the continued delay was “just an attempt by the party to fake a sense of ideological conviction that they clearly lack”.
