Shun differences, BJP leaders told

Shun differences, BJP leaders toldThe BJP high command, which has been closely monitoring the second coalition stint with the PDP, seems dissatisfied with the “conduct and wisdom of its ministers and legislators”.
The Centre is reportedly disappointed because after the passage of one month’s time in the new coalition, BJP leaders have not produced any encouraging result.
BJP national vice-president and Jammu and Kashmir affairs in charge Avinash Rai Khanna presided over a party meeting today at Vir Bhawan, the RSS headquarters in Jammu. This meeting was being perceived as an assignment by the high command to check the reasons for non-performance.
“There is no significant change in the working of ministers, forcing the high command to take cognisance of the issue. Grievances are pouring in at the PMO with people expressing dissatisfaction about the conduct of ministers and legislators,” said a source.
It was for the first time during the coalition that BJP ministers and legislators were “summoned to Vir Bhawan” for a meeting on government affairs.
The second stint began on April 4 with two changes in the Council of Ministers with the expectation of better results. Ignoring public works and party workers’ grievances, the BJP could not regain its credibility.
“Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, in his speech on April 12, exhorted leaders to connect with the masses and complete development projects on time. His call fell on deaf ears,” said the source.
He added that swapping ministries and dropping ministers had led to bitterness among ministers and legislators, who were busy finding fault with each other instead of paying attention to development projects and peoples’ grievances.
Besides taking feedback, Khanna directed the party cadre to shun differences and take to “healthy governance”. He warned ministers and legislators of landing in trouble due to non-performance.
State BJP president Sat Sharma said the state affairs in charge had come for a briefing about recent programmes under the ‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday’ campaign and expressed his satisfaction.
“Khanna said party activists have to act as a bridge between the government and people so that problems of the masses are attended to and their grievances get addressed to their satisfaction,” said Sharma.
