Governor NN Vohra opens workshop for IAS aspirantsGovernor NN Vohra inaugurated a workshop on “The Civil Services: An Achievable Career Goal”, organised by the Ascent Group, at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre here today.
Observing that we lived in a highly competitive environment, the Governor urged the youth to aspire to be among the very best and achieve success on all fronts, not merely in civil services.
He said with every passing day the world was witnessing growing competition in every arena of human activity and for this alone our youth faced the challenge of being competent, efficient and reliable.
Lauding the talented students of J&K, the Governor observed that given the required opportunities and a conducive enabling environment, our youth were capable of achieving excellent results in every arena.
He urged the youth to spare no effort to fully develop their capabilities, compete in every arena and secure the best results.
The Governor noted that despite the serious difficulties faced in past years, our youth were coming up very well and there had been a progressive increase in the number who got selected for various all-India and Central services every year.
He observed that concerted efforts for enlarging awareness about various opportunities available in the country and provision of sound guidance would enable our youth to achieve outstanding results.
He exhorted the youth to explore the wonderful career opportunities which were now available all over the world and work hard to achieve their goals.
The Governor lauded the efforts of Kashmir and Jammu universities in providing able guidance through the centres run by them to coach the aspirants of various prestigious services.
He said the universities were on the path to achieve academic excellence and resurgence in the universities could be sensed from the increasing number of prestigious fellowships and valuable research projects which were being secured by students and faculties.
The Governor urged all Vice Chancellors in the state to infuse a competitive environment for excellence in teaching and research in their institutions and encourage their students and faculties to secure the maximum number of awards and honours.
Referring to the profitable career opportunities available in fields like management, engineering, medicine, science and technology, law and accountancy, the Governor observed that a large number of scholarships were available for bright students to pursue their preferred career options.
He stressed the need for the youth to look beyond civil services to numerous other opportunities for self-employment and entrepreneurship.
The Governor wished bright careers ahead to the aspirants and reiterated that well-planned hard work would enable the aspirants to gain success not merely in civil services but in all prestigious examinations for admission to institutions of learning in medicine, engineering, science, technology and management.
The Governor complimented Mohd Shafi Pandit, chairman, Ascent Group, for his efforts to provide guidance to students.
