Jehangir Chowk flyover likely to be complete by March

Jehangir Chowk flyover likely to be complete by MarchSetting a deadline of March 2017 for the completion of the Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh-Natipora flyover, the government said recently that a target of 58 per cent construction work had already been achieved.
It added that the Bikram Chowk flyover, which was coming up in the Jammu city, was expected to be completed by December this year with 68 per cent of the physical target having already been achieved.
This was revealed in a written reply by the minister in charge of the Planning and Development Department in the Legislative Council recently.
Because of the ongoing construction of the Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh-Natipora flyover, the traffic authorities in Srinagar have made diversion and the traffic headed to south city is currently being diverted from the Batamaloo-Natipora-bypass road, which is causing a lot of inconvenience to people.
The response came in reply to a question by MLC S Dharambir Singh Oberoi, who had asked about the present status of the flyover projects of the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA). He had also sought details about the expected date of the completion of these flyover projects.
“The construction of flyover/expressway corridor from Jahangir Chowk to Rambagh-Natipora in Srinagar city is in progress with a physical achievement of 58 per cent. It is likely to be completed by the end of March 2017, subject to the settlement of pending acquisition and rehabilitation of some displaced persons because of the stay order given by the High Court,” the minister said in the reply.
