Parvez shines with bat and ball; Ranji Trophy

parvez-shines-with-bat-and-ball-ranji-trophySkipper Parvez Rasool shined with both bat and ball but was unable to do much as J&K was facing first inning lead deficit after losing seven wickets in reply Hyderabad’s 328 on the second day of the Ranji trophy match being played at Motibaug Cricket Ground, Vadodara on Wednesday.
Resuming day’s play on overnight score of 234 for three, Hyderabad went to loss all wickets for the score of 328. The overnight unbeaten century maker Tanmay Aggarwal got out after scoring 19. S Badrinath with 47 and B Anirudh with 46 were other notable scorers. For J&K Parvez Rasool took four wickets while as Samiullah picked three. Suhail Andleep took two and Ram Dayal one.

In reply J&K got disasterous start with opener Ahmad Omar Banday getting out for naught. For the score of 33 J&K lost four top order batsmen. At that point, it looked like that J&K will get all out cheaply. However, then came out in the middle Parvez Rasool who started to hit Hyderabad bowlers all over. He took attack to the opposition by playing some brilliant strokes. Before getting out at the fag end of the days play, Parvez scored 70 runs from 81 deliveries. He completed his 50 from mere 52 deliveries. His knock involved 11 boundaries and one six. At stumps, J&K were seven wickets down still trailing Hyderabad’s first inning total by 172 runs. Samiullah was batting on 28 along with Ram Dayal on 9.
There is not much batting left in J&K lower order now and there is every likelihood that team would concede first inning lead. J&K will rest all their hopes on Samiullah who has rescued them on various occasions in past. However, the task is uphill with 172 runs still to be scored.
