Resistance Leadership calls shutdown in Kashmir tomorrow against civilian killings, Schools, colleges to remain closed

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a strike tomorrow to protest against the killing of a civilian in forces’ action on protesters in Pulwama district earlier today.
A civilian, identified as Showkat Ahmad of Begumbagh Kakapora, was killed after forces opened fire on protesters marching towards the encounter site in Hakripora earlier today.

JRL called the killings and use of force on protesters as “worst example of state terrorism”.
They appealed to people to observe complete shutdown against what they called naked aggression, cruelty of government forces and massacre of unarmed people.

Meanwhile, authorities have ordered closure of all colleges and schools in Kashmir valley tomorrow to prevent protests and rallies against the killing of top LeT commander Abu Dujana in an encounter with forces earlier today in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
“All the colleges and schools of Kashmir valley are hereby closed for today on 02-08-2017 as a precautionary measure,” read an order, issued by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmed Khan.

Kashmir University has postponed all examinations scheduled tomorrow.
In view of concerns expressed by students vis-a-vis transportation, all Kashmir University examinations scheduled on August 2, 2017 (Wednesday) are postponed,” said a spokesman.

“Fresh dates for the deferred examinations shall be notified separately, later,” he said.

Dujana and his aide Tariq Lelhari were killed in a gunfight with forces in Hakripora village earlier today.
A civilian Showkat Ahmad was killed after forces opened fire to disperse protesters marching towards the gunfight site.
