BJP looking to Sangh for final call on Kashmir talks

To initiate dialogue after RSS meet at Bhopal in mid-October

Contrary to the statement of BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, the Centre will take the Sangh Parivar on board before initiating any meaningful dialogue on Kashmir. Instead of taking any hasty decision on talks, the Centre will look into all aspects before taking any step in the matter.
Ram Madhav, while addressing media persons at Srinagar on September 21, had announced that the Centre was ready for a dialogue with separatists without any pre-conditions. “We are ready to talk to everybody who wants to come and have a dialogue without any pre-conditions,” he had stated, adding that the Hurriyat was welcome to have a dialogue with the state government as well as the Centre. Sources said that during the BJP national executive committee meeting in New Delhi on September 24 and 25, Ram Madhav briefed the BJP leadership about the prevailing situation in the state. “Instead of advocating dialogue with all stakeholders, including the Hurriyat Conference, he put the onus on the government to take a call in the matter,” a source said, adding that a group within the party was of the opinion that the Hurriyat Conference and other separatist groups were seeking dialogue only due to pressure being mounted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after repeated raids to expose their financial irregularities. “An opinion has emerged within a group of the BJP leadership that separatist leaders are asking for ‘meaningful dialogue’ because the NIA has exposed their misdeeds and they want a way out,” the source said.
The sources said the Sangh Parivar would be taken on board before any decision on Kashmir because some offshoots of the Parivar were working in the Valley. “The feedback of these groups would be taken by the central leadership before setting up any agenda for dialogue on Kashmir,” a source said.
“The Kashmir situation would be thoroughly discussed in the forthcoming Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha meet of the RSS at Bhopal in the second week of October,” the source asserted, adding that any decision on a dialogue would be taken only after the Pratinidhi Sabha meeting. The sources said that during the two-day national executive meeting which concluded on Monday, Ram Madhav had made it clear that the offensive against terror groups was yielding encouraging results. He said the security forces had been given a free hand to deal with those who had picked up the gun.

Feedback from Valley

The Sangh Parivar will be taken on board before any decision on Kashmir because some offshoots of the Parivar are working in the Valley. The feedback of these groups will be taken by the BJP top brass before setting up any agenda for dialogue on Kashmir, a source said
