Soldiers paying with blood for PDP-BJP’s opportunistic alliance: Rahul Gandhi

“Our soldiers are paying with their blood for BJP-PDP’s opportunistic alliance in Jammu and Kashmir,” Congress president Rahul Gandhi today tweeted as he blamed the government for failing to adopt a decisive policy on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“PDP says “talks” with Pakistan. BJP Defence Minister says “Pakistan will pay the price”. While our soldiers pay with their blood for BJP/ PDP’s opportunistic alliance and non-existent Kashmir policy; Modi Ji dithers,” he tweeted.
Yesterday, following an attack on a CRPF camp in Srinagar, J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti had called for India-Pakistan talks to resolve the long-pending issue of Kashmir.
“Dialogue with Pakistan is necessary if we are to end bloodshed (in the state),” Mehbooba Mufti tweeted.
“I know I will be labelled anti-national by news anchors tonight but that doesn’t matter. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering. We have to talk because war is not an option,” she said.
On the same day, BJP leader and defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, whose party is in alliance with Mufti’s PDP in Jammu and Kashmir, said that Pakistan who is indulging in ceasefire violations to assist infiltration will pay for this misadventure.
“Pakistan is expanding the arc of terror… resorting to ceasefire violations to assist infiltration,” Sitharaman said. “Pakistan will pay for this misadventure.”
The ambiguity of leaders, who hail from the same political unit, prompted the Congress president to today tweet that the Prime Minister is undecided on the issue of Kashmir. The PM has dithered, he said.
In the last four days, seven soldiers have been martyred in two separate terrorist incidents in the state.
On February 10, a group of heavily-armed men struck the sprawling camp of the 36 brigade of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, killing six people including five soldiers.
Yesterday, one CRPF jawan was martyred in a 32-hour encounter between security forces and two LeT terrorists, who hid in a building in Srinagar’s Karan Nagar after their attempts to attack a CRPF camp failed.
