Gunfight breaks out at Dooru two militants killed
The gunfight that started last night in Dooru area of Anantnag in south Kashmir has ended with the killing of two militants, police said today.
“The encounter is over and two militants were killed and arms & ammunition recovered,” said the police, in a tweet.
The identity of the slain militants is being ascertained, it added.
The gunfight, according to the police, broke out last night between militants and the government forces in Shistargam in Dooru area.
An official said that SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police, army and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Shistargam village late Friday night after inputs about the presence of militants.
He said that the militants opened fire on the forces, triggering a gunfight.
Mobile Internet service was suspended in the area after the gunfight began.
