#FakeNews – Tourism stakeholders lodge FIR against TOI

Taking cognizance of news report in Times of India (GoI) about attacks on tourists, local travel and hotel associations Tuesday jointly filed an FIR with the Police Station Kothibagh against the newspaper’s Srinagar correspondent Saleem Pandit.
In the FIR number 26/2018 U/S 502 (2) RPC, the tourism stakeholders said no tourist was hurt by any incident of stone pelting.
Talking to Kashmir Post, President Travel Agents Association of Kashmir Ashfaq Siddiq Dug said they filed the FIR against Pandit for false and factually incorrect reports.
He said due to fake news report in Times of India, uncertainty has been created among the intending tourists.
“Kashmiris have always played as best hosts whenever any guests visits here even during testing times. The tourists have been visiting the tourist places and they are happy,” he said.
TASK President Mir Anwar said tourists have not been hurt anywhere and the report has been intentionally published to affect tourist flow to Kashmir.
Around 11 travel and hotel associations visited Kothibagh police station to file the FIR.
In the FIR, the stakeholders stated that the news report is based on false information with malice to disrupt the peaceful season.
It said no foreign tourist has been harmed in and around Dalgate on April 2, 2018.
It further states that the false report has created the atmosphere of threat amongst the citizens of country.
