Dissolve Assembly to end horse trading: Omar to Vohra

‘No improvement in Kashmir situation under Governor’s rule’

Former chief minister Omar Abdullah Monday demanded dissolution of Legislative Assembly to put an end to rumor mongering over government formation and horse trading of legislators.
“National Conference is demanding dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly. The rumors mongering of horse trading of legislators or breaking of political parties for alleged formation of alternate government will be solved with the dissolution of assembly,” he said addressing media persons at party headquarters here.
“We are not demanding immediate polls. We understand that to create conducive atmosphere for elections in Kashmir, it will take some time. But in the meantime, we should put an end to unnecessary rumors mongering and let assembly be dissolved,” the NC Vice President said.
Omar brushed aside reports that BJP contacted them for government formation.
Referring to the revolt within the PDP, he said, “It is their internal party matter and their leadership has to resolve the issues of dissatisfaction among the legislators.”
The former CM said: “We are not behind the formation of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nor in creating dissent within their party.”
He said under the Governor’s rule there was no improvement in situation in Kashmir.
On the BJP’s assertion that the situation in Kashmir was improving under the Governor’s rule, Omar said, “It might be looking at Kashmir situation from Delhi but being in Kashmir, we can say the situation has not improved.”
He said only two days back, three civilian had been killed.
“We have come to know from the people that not only PDP ministers but some of BJP ministers were also involved in corruption,” the NC Vice President said. “We will approach Governor Vohra so that investigation is carried out without any political influence and if the allegations are proved right, the concerned people (ministers) should be punished.”
