Don’t play vote politics over Dogra pride: Devender Singh Rana to BJP

National Conference provincial president Devender Singh Rana on Sunday said the Dogra pride was a prerogative of the people of the Jammu region and the BJP should not play politics over it.
“When the party was in power in the state, its ministers never spoke about the Dogra pride and once they are not in power, they are crying hoarse in a vain bid of hoodwinking the public,” he said.
Rana was addressing party workers of the erstwhile Kissan Mazdoor Party, which under the leadership of Vijay Pandey, had recently merged with the National Conference in the presence of Farooq Abdullah. He cautioned the BJP against marketing the Dogra pride for retrieving its “doomed electoral prospects”, saying people of the Jammu region were wise enough to see through the “grand conspiracy” hatched in Delhi to exploit the Dogra sentiments.
The NC provincial president said the Dogra pride was close to every individual of the Jammu region, irrespective of caste and religion and they had never shirked from offering any sacrifice for upholding their culture and heritage.
“Those using the Dogra pride as a commodity to garner votes and support during the elections are the worst enemies of the Dogras,” he said.
He alleged that the party had proved to be a disappointment for the people of the region.
“BJP national president Amit Shah had himself admitted the failure of the party in running the state government,” he said.
