Unidentified persons fire at CRPF vehicle in Khanyar, no casulty reported

In a recent incident, an unidentified gunman made an attempt on a CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) vehicle in the Khanyar area of old Srinagar. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.

According to the police, the assailant opened fire at the bullet-proof CRPF vehicle and swiftly fled the scene. This lone militant discharged his pistol at the CRPF vehicle, specifically at the Khwaja Bazaar chowk, around 7:00 pm.

The incident was addressed promptly by alert CRPF personnel who demonstrated great restraint to prevent potential collateral damage. They effectively repelled the assailant, who was subsequently chased away. Thankfully, there were no reports of loss of life or property.

The Srinagar Police released an official statement regarding the incident: “There was an attempted attack by a pistol-borne terrorist on a bullet-proof vehicle of CRPF in the Khanyar area which was repelled by alert personnel. The unknown gunman was chased away by the personnel, who showed wise restraint due to the potential collateral damage. No injury to life or property was reported.”

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ever-present security challenges faced in certain regions, particularly in areas like Srinagar. The rapid response and vigilant actions of the security forces played a crucial role in preventing a potentially dangerous situation from escalating.
