‘State Subject law will be respected’ : NEET Row
The Supreme Court on Thursday observed that the State Subject Law would be respected while granting admissions to students in various medical courses in Jammu and Kashmir, said a top law official.
The official, who is in New Delhi to assist the lawyers pleading the case of Jammu and Kashmir in the Supreme Court to seek exemption from the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), told Kashmir InFocus: “One good thing that emerged today is that the apex court made it very clear that the State subject law will be respected.”
He added that the reservations shall be as per the State Reservation Act and women would continue to get 50% reservation as provided under State Act besides reservation for other reserved categories.
The Supreme Court is likely to pass the final judgement on the issue tomorrow.
Jammu and Kashmir government had on Monday filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking exemption of the state’s aspirants from National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for medical courses.
